Reports &
Teams For Saturday 12th May
The 1st's
travelled to Braunton in good spirits hoping to
continue their good start to the season. Batting
first we reached a modest total of 151 all out,
with the final wicket falling in the penultimate
over - something that would come back to haunt
them when in the field. After a decent start
getting to 59 without loss from the first 12
overs the rate slowed up considerably when the
Braunton spinners came on. Buns top scored with
a decent knock of 53 and Josh made 32. In reply
Braunton were always there or thereabouts with
the required rate only 3 an over, but they
reached the final over needing a massive 13 runs
to win it. Unfortunately a couple of massive
blows from home Captain Jon Baglow saw the hosts
reached the required total with a ball to spare.
Sadly, this was the over previously given to
them when we fell all out in the 49th over of
our innings.
The 2nd's
good run continued with a convincing 95 run win
at Harewood over North Devon. Batting first the
twos made 188-9 with a decent contributions from
Gregs (54), Trems (21), whilst five others got
into double figures. The reply from North Devon
never really took off with Gregs, Sniff and DV
ripping through the top order and leaving them 4
down for 32. A stand of 32 for the fifth wicket
was as much resistance as was offered and the
job was finished in the 35th over bowling North
Devon all out for 93. Matt Gregs won the
champagne from Match Day Sponsors Hall Graves
And Lee backing up his 54 with the bat with 4
for 33 with the ball. DV bowled superbly ending
with figures of 4 wickets for just 6 runs in the
9.2 overs he bowled. Sniff snaffled the other
two wickets for just 10 runs.
The 3rd's
looked to have done the hard work by restricting
Lewdown to just 100 runs but some tight bowling
from the visitors kept our reply down to 67 runs
resulting in a 33 run defeat.
The
Plympton Ladies lost away at Bristol Phoenix by
three wickets. Batting first we made 144 all out
with a number of the girls getting starts but no
one pushed on to turn their start into high
scores. Despite 4-38 from Claire Varcoe, Bristol
reached their target in the 45th over for the
loss of 7 wickets.
